After studying anthropology and digital humanities at Amherst College, web-developer Helen Gaffigan has created aspectacleinthreeacts.org. This interactive website for a canary torsi is a journey into the universe of the visual research compiled for the live 3 act performance, Court/Garden. Developed as a mapped series of journeys, aspectacleinthreeacts.org is a portal for audiences and visitors to relive Gaffigan’s reimagining of Court/Garden. Court/Garden is a new dance and live music performance by a canary torsi. It takes as its inspir ation the imperial ballets of Louis XIV’s French Court, the spectatorship of the proscenium stage and the presentation of video feeds as cultural, social and political frames of experience. CG delves into an operatic, spectacle-driven vocabulary to reflect on how power functions in contemporary theatrical images from the fashion runway to the creation of cultural icons. Helen is a skilled designer, with a portfolio of creative accomplishments and enduring commitments to social issues. Helen is liberally educated with a quality of mind and sensitivity to social and cultural context. After graduating Cum Laude from Amherst College last spring, Helen continues to weave her design expertise with her interest in social issues working for non-profit organizations. She will continue to pursue innovate technology as a foundation of her professional future.
